The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The diagram demonstrates the procedure of electricity production by the use of geothermal energy. Following diagram shows the step by step structure of how electricity is generated.
Starting the process by using the kinetic energy of falling cold water covering the distance of 4.5 kilometers downwards, then the water is pushed to the geothermal zone passing from the injection well. The geothermal zone contains hot rocks which increase the water temprature and going through the production well the hot water is pumped up into condenser which changes its state to steam. Now steam plays a significant role in electricity generation.
Furthermore, the steam then passes through the turbine which compells the turbine to rotate and the turbine fan movement causes the generation of electricity. The generated electricity is then sent to transformers and then the line continues to provide electricity to cities and connected areas.
Summing up the process that is simply utilized by natural resoures and processes which results in the production of electricity, this method and process is often used in dams and natural powered turbines using geothermal energy.
