IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given process diagram depicts the production of electricity by geothermal energy.

Overall, the process consists of several stages, beginning with the usage of cold water and then ending with how electricity is produced by using generators and turbine.

The process begin with the usage of cold water and it pumped down 4.5 km to reach injection well. After that there is the geothermal zone where hot rocks are present and due to this cold water become hot. Next the water reached the production well. In the next stage, the hot water pumped up and entered the condenser.

Subsequently, the water in the condenser produce steam. Once the steam has been produce it entered the turbine and then rotate inside it. Finally, the generator produced electricity which is powered by turbine. In the final stage, the generators supplies electricity to the electricity poles by which it can be used people.
