Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The picture illustrates process of that how geothermal power plant produced electricity by using thermal source.
Overall it clearly visible that base resource of plant is water. further water converted into stem which produce a power throughout generator. And in mainly 5 steps require to complete process.
A glance at the diagram reveals , fist step start with cold water pumped down by using the injection well which 4.5 down side and pass through a Geothermal zone which cover with a hot rocks therefore water become very hot . Foreword the production well pumped hot water to up in condenser.
Further more analysis the chart that in condenser hot water convert in to steam . steam go in to turbine from condenser which made turbine blade moved and produce power. Turbine connect with generator. It powered by turbine and produce electricity . Moreover, electricity connect with electric tower . end last complete all step.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by outlining the main stages of how a geothermal power plant produces electricity. There is an attempt to present an overview, noting that water is the base resource and converted into steam to power a generator across five main steps. However, some aspects of the process are under-developed or vague, such as the descriptions of how the condenser and turbine interact. The 4.5 km depth is mentioned, which is good, but overall the selection of features lacks fully extended explanation, placing this response securely at this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing to separate the introduction, overview, and body steps. However, cohesion is often faulty or mechanical, with awkward transitions like 'further water converted' and 'Foreword the production well'. Referencing and logical progression between sentences occasionally break down, leading to a somewhat disjointed flow. While the overarching structure is visible, the mechanical and inaccurate use of cohesive devices prevents the writing from achieving a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing basic terms related to the diagram such as 'geothermal power plant', 'injection well', and 'turbine'. There are numerous word choice, word form, and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'stem' instead of steam, 'Foreword' instead of Afterward, and 'end last complete all step'. These errors reflect an attempt to use less common vocabulary with notable inaccuracy, though they do not completely impede overall communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The text displays a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex forms that are grammatically faulty. There are persistent errors in verb forms, tenses, articles, and prepositions, such as 'illustrates process of that how', 'which 4.5 down side', and 'hot water convert in to steam'. Punctuation is also weak, with stray commas and missing full stops. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control of grammatical accuracy.
