Some people believe that allowing children to make their own choices on everyday matters (such as food, clothes and entertainment) is likely to result in a society of individuals who only think about their own wishes. Other people believe that it is important for children to make decisions about matters that affect them.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Certen people think that it is good to allow children to make their own choices such as diet dressing and to watch things whta they like. While other think that they should just make their choces in practical life not in clothes and meal just.It is true that children become selfish if they select all the things themselves.
We should allow children to take decisions of ife but not in everything jusk like they can select subject in universities accordng to their own but not in selecting universities Because they have no any idea about the environment of the universities and colleges. To some extent it is true that children become selfish after taking their decision own.We we allow to take some decision ,they think that they have more knowledge then older ones.
Parents should allow children to make decision in certain things and circumstances.Sometimes patents try to control their children completely and try to select things for children themselves. But at the same time children having different mindset and interest in subjects.
I prefer that parents should allow their children to select the universities and subjects according to their own interest.they should trust their children and also try to teach them that they should also try to listen others advices.
To conclude,it is true to some extent that children can be selfish by taking all the decision themselve but stll patent should allow them to choose the things themselves

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the topic and give a position: you argue that children should make some decisions, while parents should guide them and teach them to consider others. The examples about choosing university subjects and selecting a university show an attempt to distinguish between decisions children can make and those needing adult input. However, the discussion of the view that choice may create selfishness is brief and largely asserted rather than explained, and the opposing view is not developed with clear reasons or examples. Your position also shifts slightly: you first say children should not choose universities, then later say parents should allow them to select universities. The response is 13 words below the required minimum, which further limits the development of your ideas. Explain both views more fully and make your position consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, discussion of parental guidance, your opinion, and a conclusion. Paragraph breaks help separate these stages, and connectors such as “While,” “But at the same time,” and “To conclude” signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the point about choosing a university follows the general claim about everyday choices without explaining the connection, and the contrast between children choosing universities and not choosing them is confusing. Some linking is repetitive or mechanically added, while references such as “they” and “all the things” do not always identify the meaning precisely. Organise each paragraph around one clear point, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “selfish,” “interest,” “mindset,” “decisions,” and “environment.” This shows some ability to discuss parenting and children’s choices. However, the range is limited, and several spelling errors or imprecise expressions make the writing less clear, such as “Certen,” “choces,” “patents,” and “advices.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “take decisions of life” and “select the things for children themselves.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and vary repeated words such as “things,” “select,” and “decision.” Proofreading for spelling and choosing more precise terms would make your meaning easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses (“While other think…”) and a conditional structure (“if they select all the things themselves”). These attempts show some range, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “children become selfish after taking their decision own,” “We we allow to take some decision,” and “children having different mindset and interest.” Subject–verb agreement, missing or incorrect articles, and incomplete verb structures are recurring issues. Sentence boundaries and spacing after punctuation also need attention. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check that each clause has a complete verb.
