Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response shows awareness of the concern that children may become self-focused, and it gives a clear view that children should not be allowed to choose everything. However, it does not discuss the opposing view—that children should make decisions about matters affecting them—or develop a balanced discussion, so the task is addressed only minimally. The brief claims that choices may cause “lots of problem” and be “unbearable” are not explained or supported with examples. The response contains 74 words, below the required 250; 31 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from that count. To improve, address both views, state your own position clearly, and support each main point with reasons or a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the issue, and the next paragraph gives a position against allowing children to choose everything. However, the ideas do not progress into a complete discussion, and the final line, “Alloing children for their own choices,” is an unfinished heading rather than a concluding point. Connections between claims are also unclear; for example, the link between children making choices and future problems is asserted rather than explained. To improve, use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, then connect each claim to its explanation with clear transitions and references. A conclusion should summarise your position rather than introduce a fragment.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some relevant vocabulary, including “everyday matters,” “choices,” and “society,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is narrow and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “its a big issue of our society,” “allowing their own choices,” and “it may cause lots of problem.” Spelling errors such as “believour,” “decisin,” and “Alloing” also reduce accuracy. These limitations are consistent with a basic, repetitive vocabulary range, although the main concern can still be understood. Build a wider set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and natural word combinations when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing relies mainly on simple sentence patterns, with a limited attempt to connect ideas in “All the decisin, they had taken will not good for them always.” Errors in sentence construction, verb forms, and articles frequently make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “some people believour children to make” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “it created problem in their future” has an unclear subject and verb form. The response does communicate a general position, but control is not consistent enough for the ideas to be expressed clearly. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled clauses using “because,” “although,” and “for example.”
