Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the argument regarding children becoming independent is repetitive and lacks specific, well-explained examples. The conclusion is brief and does not effectively summarize the main points discussed. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments are somewhat superficial, preventing the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should focus on expanding your points with more detailed explanations and concrete examples that directly relate to the prompt's focus on everyday choices.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Following that' and 'Apart form this'. There are also issues with logical progression; the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the subject of certain sentences. While the overall arrangement is coherent enough to be understood, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional confusion in sentence flow limit the score. Improving the variety and accuracy of transition signals will enhance the logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'some individuals are things that' instead of 'some individuals believe that', and 'child independents' instead of 'independent children'. The use of 'peoples' as a plural for 'people' is a recurring error. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general meaning, it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You should focus on learning collocations and using more academic vocabulary to express your ideas more accurately and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('some peoples are believe'), incorrect word forms ('satisficed' instead of 'satisfied'), and awkward sentence structures. There is a limited range of complex structures, and the attempts made are often faulty, which can cause difficulty for the reader. Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally discernible, the persistent errors in basic grammar significantly impact the readability of the text. Focusing on sentence construction, verb tenses, and pluralization will be essential for improving your grammatical accuracy.
