Student answer (Band 7.0)

In the county where many peoples lives with different culture , languages and believes . some people thinks allowing children to make their own decision create responsible person and some thinks it create stubborn children .

In my opinion , to allowing children's to take their own choice and decision whatever in case of food , clothes and entertainment creates responsible citizens. The children take responsibility of their opinion and starts thinking of their own self and families not only sociality that what another people thinks or speak . However, I believe that making everyday decisions is an important part of a child's learning process. When children are allowed to choose their clothes, hobbies, or leisure activities, they develop confidence, independence, and critical thinking skills. They also learn that every decision has consequences. For instance, a child who chooses unsuitable clothing for cold weather quickly understands the importance of making wiser choices in the future. Such experiences help children become responsible decision-makers rather than dependent adults who rely on others for guidance.

Furthermore, allowing children to participate in decisions that affect them strengthens communication within families. Parents can guide their children by setting reasonable boundaries while still respecting their opinions. This balanced approach teaches children to make informed choices without ignoring rules or social responsibilities. Consequently,

In conclusion, although excessive freedom may encourage selfish attitudes, I believe that giving children the opportunity to make suitable everyday decisions is beneficial. With proper parental guidance and clear limits, children can develop responsibility, confidence, and sound judgement without becoming self-centred members of society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the example regarding clothing choices and the subsequent explanation of learning consequences. However, the introduction is somewhat weak, containing several grammatical errors that obscure the initial presentation of the two views. While the position is clear, the development of the 'selfish' argument is slightly less detailed than the argument for independence. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task effectively, providing a balanced discussion that supports the writer's stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each serving a clear purpose. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'However,' 'For instance,' and 'Furthermore' are used to link sentences and ideas effectively. While the transition between the second and third paragraphs is slightly abrupt due to an incomplete sentence ('Consequently,'), the overall structure remains coherent. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different stages of the argument, and the referencing is generally clear throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task, with some good collocations such as 'learning process,' 'critical thinking skills,' and 'informed choices.' There are some minor errors in word form and usage, such as 'sociality' instead of 'society' and 'believes' instead of 'beliefs.' While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning with some precision, it does not consistently demonstrate the flexibility or sophisticated control required for a higher band. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks a wider variety of less common lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly in the introduction, such as 'many peoples lives' (should be 'people live') and 'some people thinks' (should be 'think'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. Despite these errors, the meaning is rarely impeded, and the writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, such as 'When children are allowed to choose their clothes... they develop confidence.' The punctuation is generally functional, though the incomplete sentence at the end of the third paragraph is a notable lapse in control.
