Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While you attempt to address both views and provide an opinion, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence ('I oppose t'). The development of ideas is limited; the example of your cousin is relevant but lacks sufficient depth to fully support your argument. To improve, ensure you complete your thoughts, provide a clear conclusion, and meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'But', but they are sometimes used in a simplistic or repetitive manner. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is somewhat mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to your main argument, ensuring the flow remains smooth throughout the entire piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on simple phrasing, such as 'hard issues' or 'second kind of people', which are not idiomatic. There are also some awkward word choices, such as 'casual and demand of nature' and 'irregular person of society'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to child development and autonomy. Avoid repeating basic words and look for synonyms that convey your meaning more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'In living world', 'children are thinking that they can make a decision', and 'My cousin parents were not allowed to him'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the control over basic grammar, such as article usage and subject-verb agreement, is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction before attempting more complex structures. Pay close attention to verb tenses and prepositions, and proofread your work to catch simple errors in agreement and word order.
