Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people believe that letting children to decide their own choices on everyday situations like making their own preferable food, buying their genre of clothes and selecting their liked entertainment has a high chance with an outcome of individuals who are selfish .I believe that this is not the most important thing in the world. while , other people may reason to believe that it is important for children to make decisions about that affect them in life like choosing which type of degree to choose for education and which type of college is best suitable for them.
I think that the latter is the more important thinking which is best suitable for children for the preparation of their future dilemma's. We should definitely let children choose their own careers and lifestyle because if you force them to have your own wishful career which might not be liked by them they will not prosper in their life or might not live up to their fullest potential.
In the case of the first choice (which is letting children to decide their own choices on everyday situations ) you can often hold out on their wishes and be just. Teaching them to share and be humble first and then let make their choices if it results in being selfish you can be strict and if it results in them being selfless you can be proud. I have seen many instance in which parents who do not give it much thought to these type of things and their children turn out to be disrespectful and selfish.
But in both cases it does not hurt to ask for children of their opinion. In modern times we should ask our children their opinions or ideas because they are more knowledgeable than their parents in some areas of life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you discuss the importance of children making decisions about their future, the section regarding 'everyday situations' is less clearly argued and lacks specific examples to support the claim that it leads to selfishness. The transition between the two perspectives is present, but the arguments could be extended further to reach a higher band. The position is consistent, but the depth of analysis is limited, particularly in the third paragraph where the logic regarding 'holding out on their wishes' is slightly unclear.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the awkward use of 'while ,' and 'In the case of the first choice'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connections between sentences could be smoother. Some referencing is slightly confusing, particularly when referring back to the two viewpoints. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used correctly would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prosper', 'potential', and 'knowledgeable'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'letting children to decide their own choices' (should be 'letting children make their own choices') and 'genre of clothes'. Some expressions are repetitive or slightly unnatural, such as 'best suitable'. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and avoid redundant phrasing. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Examples include 'letting children to decide', 'decisions about that affect them', and 'many instance in which'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and the use of apostrophes (e.g., 'dilemma's' is incorrect; it should be 'dilemmas'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct pluralisation will help.
