Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often debated whether children should allow to make their own own choices in day-to-day activities (such as food, clothes and entertainment) brings up a concept of society of individuals who only think about themselves. While others argued that it is crucial for children to make decisions on their own. This develops decision-making skills, confidence and independence. In my opinion I believed that letting kid to choose everything make them spoiled and selfish. On one hand some people assert that allowing children to make choice according to them makes them disobedience and chaotic. For instance, without parental guidance children might prioritizes short-term desires (like eating junk-food or watching excessive T.V) over a long-term discipline.
On the other hand, many believed that permitting children to make decisions about mattes that affect the build will-power and self-confidence in them. For example, to choose whether to wear a shirt or polo-shirt with formal pant creates fashion and color sense in it. Another example is that to pick on your choice what he wants to eat. This makes him confident. In conclusion, although students should allow to make their own decision but should be under parental guidance and their watch. It protects him from making false and bad decision also help in recognizing what is actually benefits him and what are the things that can harm him in long term. This develops a great sense of differentiating between wants and need.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While the main points are relevant, the arguments are somewhat underdeveloped and repetitive. The conclusion introduces a nuanced perspective (parental guidance) that was not fully explored in the body paragraphs. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure each paragraph provides sufficient depth to meet the length requirement while maintaining a balanced discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, making the connection between sentences feel mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'it', 'them', 'this') is consistently clear and accurate throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive language (e.g., 'make decisions', 'choices', 'things'). There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'mattes that affect the build' (likely meant 'matters that affect the child') and 'makes them disobedience' (should be 'disobedient'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to child development and societal behavior, and ensure that you use words in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('letting kid to choose', 'children might prioritizes'), incorrect verb forms ('should allow to make'), and missing articles. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of modals and passive voice, and proofread carefully to correct subject-verb agreement and pluralization errors.
