Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, though the development is quite limited. The ideas regarding maturity and parental guidance are relevant but remain superficial. For instance, the mention of 'dangerous decisions' is a good starting point but lacks specific examples to support the argument effectively. The position is clear, but the essay lacks the depth required for a higher band. To improve, you should expand on your points with concrete examples or logical explanations that explore the implications of these choices on a child's development, rather than repeating the same general ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the use of 'However' at the start of sentences is repetitive and sometimes used where a different transition would be more appropriate. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack logical flow, such as the second paragraph starting with 'By allowing children...', which is a sentence fragment. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision needed for a higher score. You rely on basic terms like 'good reason' and 'dangerous decision'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'breath taking injuries' (which is incorrect in this context) and 'daily basic life'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. Focus on learning synonyms for common words and practicing how to use them in context to express your ideas more naturally and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many individuals thinks'), incorrect preposition usage, and punctuation errors (e.g., the use of backticks instead of apostrophes). Many sentences are also grammatically incomplete or poorly constructed, such as 'To conclude, that children should take their own decision...'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation and article usage. Reducing these frequent errors will help your ideas come across more clearly.
