Student answer (Band 5.5)
Children are important asset of a society. It is widely believed that giving freedom to children to choose their choices regarding their lives may make them selfish. In contrast, some individuals believed that children should be allowed to make their own decisions. This essay will explain both aspects of the children lives.
On the one hand, allowing children to make the choices of life by their own makes them independent, social, confident, and manage finances rather than making them selfish. Moreover, if he wants to go for cinema with his friends parents should permit him because it will make him social. In addition, if a child is selecting the food by himself, it will helps him to explore the different tastes and variety of food.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 183 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to discuss both views, the arguments are underdeveloped and the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence. The position is stated in the introduction, but the lack of a conclusion and the incomplete nature of the final paragraph mean the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are fully explored and provide a clear, balanced discussion followed by a definitive conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal structure. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the logical flow of the argument. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a concluding summary makes the overall structure feel unfinished. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts within each paragraph and using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'independent', 'confident', and 'academic study', but there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'choose the choices of life' and 'manage finances' (which is grammatically disconnected from the preceding adjectives). There is also a minor error in 'loose' instead of 'lose'. To improve, try to use more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing by using synonyms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'Children are important asset' (missing article), 'some individuals believed' (tense inconsistency), and 'it will helps him' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the incomplete final sentence prevents a full assessment of your ability to handle complex structures. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensure that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
