Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a clear summary of the position. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure the essay reaches the required length to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often unclear due to grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'On the other hand'), they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that makes the flow mechanical. The lack of a completed conclusion further disrupts the overall coherence of the piece. Improving the logical flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, well-developed central idea will help improve this score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and sometimes inaccurate, which occasionally causes confusion. For example, the use of 'rudimental' instead of 'rudimentary' and 'geometrical areas' (which is contextually incorrect) limits the precision of your writing. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and attempts to use more complex terms are often unsuccessful. To reach a higher band, focus on using words that are appropriate for the context and work on improving your collocation skills to ensure your word choices sound natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There is a frequent occurrence of grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'children... is likely'), word form (e.g., 'confident' used instead of 'confidence'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty and impede the clarity of your message. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb forms will be essential for improvement.
