Student answer (Band 6.0)
Few individual believes that permitting children to independently make a choice on daily basis might result in a society of people who only think about their own wishes. Others believe that it is essential for children to make decisions on matters that affect them. In my opinion, it is important for children to independently take personal decisions as it prepares them for the future and boasts their self confidence.
On the one hand, due to the lack of experience children tends to make wrong choice on daily activities. Most kids will like to eat more of sweet or sugary foods, which too much of it can impose health risk. They have not had any past experience on the adverse effect it has on the health, so they make the choice that they felt is good for them. The opportunity to choose in every day matters can not be left for children alone. The parents has to help and guide them till they can make a better choice so as not to loose the credibility of being their parent.
On the other hand, it is essential for children to make decisions about matters that affect them as it prepares them for the future. Independently making a choice helps build the kids confidence and self-value. At a very young age they can be independent of their parent and live on their own with out the fear of making the wrong decisions.
In conclusion, allowing children to independently make decisions with the help of an adult has its benefits in development of their confidence.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the risks of children making choices is restricted to dietary habits, and the benefits are described in general terms without concrete examples. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific illustrations or logical consequences. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesise the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', which help the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the use of 'it' in 'the adverse effect it has', where the antecedent is slightly ambiguous. Improving the variety of cohesive links and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'independently', 'adverse effect', and 'credibility'. However, there are some word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'boasts their self confidence' (should be 'boosts') and 'loose the credibility' (should be 'lose'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on accurate collocations and using more academic synonyms will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Few individual believes', 'children tends', 'The parents has') and article usage. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and spelling issues, such as 'every day' (should be 'everyday' as an adjective) and 'with out'. To improve, you need to focus on consistent subject-verb agreement and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy.
