Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given scenario compares the opinions of two different kind of significant amount of individuals.

One type of people think that allowing children to decide about their daily live's routine results in a society of persons who always prefer their choices. Those people believe in making their children independent according to the experience of their own lives. It might be possible that this belief affect the lives of children to a great extent in positive manner. Allowing our child for most of the decisions of his/her life is beneficial as it develops a sense of decision making in him/her. Decision making ability facilitates the person in the working life as a good decision maker can fulfil all its tasks on time. Consequently, this ability helps the children a lot.

The second group of people have another strong belief that involves those children who make decisions by themselves to only those problems that affect their lives. It is a great habit as it keeps the children away from most of the unnecessary matters. It fosters a sense of innocence in the children's behavior for many years of their lives.

By carefully considering the opinions of both kind of people, i strongly prefer the first opinion. According to my point of view, allowing children to decide about their daily lives make them confident and decision makers. Decision making is very beneficial for surviving in todays modern age. From my perspective, it is necessary to give the authority to children about their personal decisions. For instance, when children after becoming adults move to the universities, the decision making ability help them a lot in their higher academic lives. The pressure of sessional marks, the completion of assignments and the projects demand decision making ability from every individual at that stage.

The example that i have mentioned is from my personal experience and i recommend to parents for allowing their children to make decisions at early stages of their lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'decision making' is mentioned multiple times without introducing new perspectives or nuanced examples. The second view is addressed, but the explanation of why some people might oppose early decision-making is quite brief and lacks a strong counter-argument. To improve, you should aim to expand on the implications of each viewpoint more thoroughly, ensuring that your supporting examples are distinct and directly linked to the prompt's specific focus on everyday matters like food and clothes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Consequently', 'For instance', and 'By carefully considering', which help the flow. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'The second group of people have another strong belief that involves those children who make decisions by themselves to only those problems that affect their lives.' The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the connection between sentences could be smoother to achieve a more natural flow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'significant amount of individuals' and 'good decision maker'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'daily live's routine' (should be 'daily life routine') and 'sessional marks'. While the meaning is always clear, the lack of more sophisticated or idiomatic language limits the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to child development and autonomy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'two different kind of significant amount of individuals' (should be 'two different kinds of people'), 'this belief affect' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'allowing our child for most of the decisions' (preposition error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of lowercase 'i' for the first-person pronoun. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
