Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is true that in society there are a lot of people with there own different perspectives on different issues. This issue is one of them. Some people have their opinion that children should decide what to eat, play, wear and etc. but, some correspondingly says opposite. There is a research that says for past few years the generation that is evolving known as Gen Z is the most disrespectful generation among all. It's not saying that all of them are but the majority is. The major reason behind it is the parenting. Now a days, the parents are being more careless about there children in all aspects, about there clothes, food, acttivities an letting the children decide WHAT TO DO? and This mindset is disrupting the generation. In my Opinion Parenting plays a key role in Children behavior and there practical life . It is necessary for children to make decision to get to know about how the world works. But, after a certain age. This is parents responsibility to keep there children with them when taking decision so that they could learn. In comparison, with those society member that allow there children to take every decision by there own from a very young age they actually not making there child mature but making them individuals that in longer term will only think about there own wishes only and that thing will make them Selfish . They will not care about there family, friends and will become Irresponsible. So basically Letting your child decide is not a bad thing but letting them take decision on the wrong time of there age is bad.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding 'Gen Z' and 'disrespectful generation' is a broad generalization that lacks specific, well-supported examples. While the prompt asks for a discussion on everyday choices like food and clothes, the essay focuses heavily on the broader concept of parenting and maturity. To improve, you should provide more concrete examples of how allowing a child to choose their own clothes or food might lead to the negative outcomes you describe, rather than relying on general assertions about generational behavior.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks clear paragraphing, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. It is presented as a single block of text, whereas an IELTS essay should be structured into an introduction, body paragraphs for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. While there are some cohesive devices used, such as 'In comparison' and 'So basically', the flow is often interrupted by informal phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. To reach a higher band, you must organize your ideas into distinct paragraphs and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic, repetitive words like 'decide', 'things', and 'bad'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'acttivities' and 'there' used instead of 'their' throughout the text. The use of 'Gen Z' is a modern reference, but the surrounding vocabulary is not sufficiently academic. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensure you are using the correct forms of words, particularly possessive pronouns like 'their' versus the adverb 'there'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement and the misuse of 'there' instead of 'their'. Punctuation is also problematic, with unnecessary capitalization (e.g., 'WHAT TO DO?') and inconsistent use of commas. The sentence structures are mostly simple or compound; there is a lack of complex sentence forms, which are necessary to demonstrate a higher level of grammatical control. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like homophones would significantly improve your score.
