Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often debated that individuals think that allowing youngsters to make their own decisions on regularly matters ( such as food, clothes and entertainment) is likely to result in a society of people who only think about their own wishes. While, other individuals believe that it is major for children to make their own choices about matter that affect them. In my opinion, it is important to give a right to do their decision by own because it give them knowledge.
To begin with, the primary reason behind this view is that if children do their decisions by own it give them knowledge and make them a mature day by day. Nowadays, most of the children do not make their own decision because they are lazy, they are fully dependent on their parents. If parents allow them to making their decisions they are becoming are responsible. For example, in The UK youngsters have a proper right to do what they want they cook food for their self and chose their clothes. In the surroundings everyone seeing their own benefit and complete only their own wishes.
Furthermore, another pivotal factor is to consider is youngsters should take a permission from their parents what they are doing. Such as taking admission, buying new car and staring a new business because they are very depressed about their career, education. Most parents are always worried about if there children should involve a bad habits that is not good for their health.
In conclusion, although making their own decisions make them responsible for everything and they are become mature. Most of their own decision affect them and they regret it. In my opinion, i believe that everyone have proper right to do what they want but parents should always watch them to do not attached in a bad habit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the first body paragraph attempts to explain the benefits of decision-making, the second paragraph is somewhat confusing, as it shifts to discussing parental permission for major life events, which is only tangentially related to the prompt's focus on 'everyday matters'. The conclusion is brief and slightly contradictory, as it acknowledges the benefits of independence but then warns against bad habits without fully reconciling these points. To improve, ensure that each paragraph directly supports the main argument with clear, logical examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between and within them is often weak. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with grammatical errors (e.g., 'While, other individuals...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow of ideas is interrupted by awkward phrasing. The transition between the discussion of everyday choices and major life decisions is abrupt, making the overall structure feel disjointed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence follows logically from the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'regularly matters' instead of 'everyday matters', 'major' instead of 'important', and 'do their decision' instead of 'make their own decisions'. The student attempts to use some academic vocabulary, but these attempts are often inaccurate or unnatural. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on using more precise collocations and expanding their range of vocabulary to express complex ideas more accurately, rather than relying on basic, repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it give them knowledge'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'allow them to making'), and missing articles or prepositions. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often result in errors (e.g., 'if there children should involve a bad habits'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas. A significant focus on mastering basic sentence construction and verb tense consistency is required to improve this score.
