Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding the negative impact of autonomy and the benefits of decision-making are repetitive and lack depth or specific, illustrative examples. For instance, the mention of 'career' is a good start but is not expanded upon. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples to support your points, ensuring that the discussion is fully developed rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the links between sentences are occasionally weak. For example, the transition in the final paragraph is abrupt, and some sentences feel disconnected from the previous ones. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that each paragraph flows logically into the next, rather than relying on simple signposting words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. You use basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'important' frequently. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'guidenss' (guidance) and 'habbit' (habit). To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of child development and parenting. Avoid repeating the same phrases and try to use more precise synonyms to express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'If we allowing a child' (If we allow), 'should be stay' (should stay), and 'mane then' (make them). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading your work to correct basic errors in verb forms and sentence construction, and try to vary your sentence structures with more accuracy.
