Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that children who make their own decision are considered selfish in society, as they only care about themselves, while others think that to make decisions is quite crucial for childrens. I partially agree with this statement because although it affects the environment of society, it is very important for their career development.
On the one hand, there are plethora of reasons why people think that children should not make choices is the environment of society and behaviour. To explain, these days offsprings are quite fascinated to hanging out with their friends and when they go these places, it affects the whole society because others children are also consume what they do. For example, Youngsters spend a considerable amount of time to entertain them, while go to shopping and clubs. Which affects adversely on others lifestyle.Consequently, people argued that they should not make any judgement.
On the other hand, there are some reasons that some people give more preference to young people, who make their own determination is personal and professional growth. When children make their decisions by themselves, they are more likely to learn real life experiences, they also observe what is right and wrong for them. They also learn some good
qualities and abilities. such as communication, boost their confidence level. Therefore, they can easily get a good job because they have enough experience
to survive in this generation.
In conclusion, although there are some reasons
that the individual think youngsters should not make judgements, majority of the people believe that it not only a convenient way to learn new skills but also helps them to achieve a higher position in their lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether children should make everyday decisions and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are presented and supported, although some arguments are a bit simplistic and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on how children hanging out with friends affects society lacks clear logical extension. The writer states that youngsters 'spend a considerable amount of time to entertain them, while go to shopping and clubs,' which affects others' lifestyles, but this link is weakly explained. However, the position remains clear throughout the essay. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is coherent overall with a clear logical arrangement, dividing ideas into traditional introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are employed, but transitional links within paragraphs are occasionally awkward, such as starting a sentence with 'Which affects adversely on others lifestyle' (a sentence fragment). Referencing is also sometimes unclear, for example, using pronouns ambiguously in the body paragraphs. These issues reflect Band 6 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'plethora of reasons', 'career development', and 'professional growth'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the text. Examples include 'childrens' instead of 'children', 'offsprings' instead of 'offspring' or 'children', 'consume what they do' instead of 'copy what they do', and 'make their own determination' instead of 'make their own decisions'. These lexical errors and awkward collocations place the response firmly in the Band 5 to 6 range, warranting a 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and concessive structures like 'I partially agree with this statement because although it affects...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues that impede clarity at times. Examples include sentence fragments ('Which affects adversely on others lifestyle'), missing prepositions, subject-verb agreement issues ('people argued', 'majority of the people believe that it not only a convenient way'), and incorrect tense usage. While the general meaning can usually be understood, the frequency of structural errors prevents the essay from reaching Band 6, making Band 5.5 the most appropriate score.
