Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—allowing children to make everyday choices and focusing on important decisions—alongside a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat confused by language barriers. For instance, the student states, 'while, making decisions on daily basis children can learn how to make the important choice as well,' but the supporting explanations are underdeveloped and repetitive. The position is stated in the introduction and conclusion, but the arguments lack depth and extension. The unsupported statistic about a company named SSK feels forced and does not effectively support the main argument. Overall, the task is addressed partially, aligning closely with the Band 5 descriptors where ideas are limited and under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at paragraphing. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression and logical flow. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'First and foremost reason in favour of first statement , while, making decisions...' and 'To conclued it'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical transition words fail to connect the sentences smoothly. The overall arrangement is disjointed, making it occasionally difficult to follow the writer's line of thought. This corresponds to the Band 5 level, characterized by some basic organization but inadequate and repetitive cohesive devices.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The lexical resource is limited and heavily impacted by frequent errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples include 'chossing', 'cruisial', 'teeangers', 'imforantant', 'disscuss', 'revelent', 'interset', 'surrvey', 'childers', 'lond trerm', 'affect', 'conclued', and 'perscpative'. While the student attempts to use some topic-related vocabulary such as 'everyday matters', 'decisions', and 'advantages', the high density of spelling mistakes and awkward phrasing ('make just important decisions') causes significant strain for the reader. The vocabulary control falls into the Band 4 to Band 5 range, representing a basic and repetitive range with frequent errors that impede smooth reading.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. There is a very limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are consistently faulty. For example, 'making decision is one of the most important factor that children makes their own decision in everyones life' contains multiple severe agreement and structural errors. Punctuation is also heavily misused, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods throughout the text. Frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and clause structure distort meaning in several places and cause ongoing difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly at Band 4 for grammar.
