Student answer (Band 5.0)

Allowing children to make their choices by their own has its own advantages and disadvantages. Most of the times parents do this to make their children independent so that they can relate, face, examine scopes of different aspects of life. As it is a commonly used proverb that life is phase of learning. At any phase, at any sharpe corner, ups and downs of life make people to learn somthing new. But it dont meant that, children should be aware the problem which will comes to their life by the age of 20 just at the age of 10. Because 10 is the age of not only learning. Similarly, age of 1-10 is of sorrounding learning, at this age people should not treat their children for their own choices, because it leads them to rude. Instaed of this, parents should treat strictly about them about what is right and what to do is wrong. and by the age of 20 (end of teenage) they should treat them less strictly but more carefully. because this is the age when they becoming to think about social, surroundings, self independent, and much more. might be possible that on strict dealing they become lieing, stealling or robbing, or others. And finally, when they entered their adulthood, they should be awared of right and wrong, good or bad, etc. This type of grooming will leeds children to makle their decisions more effectivley (not accuretly because life is name of learning) by their own. the teachings of first 10 years will suppose them nad forced them to not think for their own wiehes only.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the perspective that children given too much freedom may become self-centred, as well as the view that decision-making is essential. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times quite muddled. For instance, the transition from early childhood training to teenage strictness is somewhat confusingly articulated, and the writer's personal position is not fully clarified until the very end of the essay. Phrases like 'parents should treat strictly about them' illustrate a lack of clear argumentation and underdeveloped reasoning. While the essay touches on the main points required by the task, it falls short of fully extending and supporting its ideas, which aligns closely with Band 5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text suffers from a lack of proper paragraphing, as it is presented as one solid block of text rather than distinct paragraphs for each viewpoint and the conclusion. This severely impacts the overall logical progression. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, with repetitive connectors like 'and finally' and 'similarly' attempting to link disparate ideas. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as 'Because 10 is the age of not only learning,' which disrupts the flow of the argument. While there is some underlying logical progression from childhood to adulthood, the mechanical and inadequate cohesion places this response firmly at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical range is quite limited and repetitive. The student relies heavily on basic words and phrases, such as 'choices,' 'learn,' 'treat,' and 'strict.' There are several noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices, such as 'sharpe corner' instead of sharp turns, 'sorrounding learning' for surroundings, 'leeds' for leads, and 'makle' for make. Phrases like 'become lieing, stealling or robbing' also show weak collocation and word formation. Although the meaning can sometimes be deciphered, the frequency of errors and limited vocabulary breadth restrict the score to a 4.5, rounded to 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and prepositional phrases throughout the text. Examples include 'Allowing children to make their choices by their own,' 'it dont meant that,' 'children should be aware the problem which will comes to their life,' and 'when they becoming to think.' Punctuation is also poorly managed, with sentence fragments and run-on sentences impairing readability. These frequent structural errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and reflect Band 4 territory.
