Student answer (Band 6.0)

Despite progressing raidly in the field of psychology of children, the deabte on the topic of giving decision power to children still exist. Some people argue that allowing children to make their own decisions on daily affairs including food, clothes and entertainment is likely to produce selfish individuals in a society. However, other people believe that it is pivotal for children to make their choices about matters that affect them. From my perspective, I partly agree to the stance that autonomy will create selfish individuals, however, providing decision power ot children can assist in developing mature individuals in a scoiety, that will have the better understanding of the circumstances.

On one hand, allowing children to make their own choices on everyday matters can increase their creativity and logical reasoning skills. Young people can enhance their productvity and reduce boundness on others by choosing the things they want in their daily life. A clear illustration of this is provided by young entrepeneurs, who had autonomy in their dialy life activities in the past and have become successful by implementing similar rule on the business industry,

On another hand, autonomy in everyday matters can increase the proportion of individuals who only think about their own wishes in a socitery. People can be more concerned about solving issues of their own rather than others, which can impact a society adversely. For insatnce, If someone prefers himself over societal problem, it will result into the lac of cooperation among individual of a specific society. Therefore, some people donnot support this stance of giving autonomy to children in their routine tasks.

Although, providing right to make their own decision to children can create additonal pressure on the socio-economic growth of a society. However, I strongly believe that, giving freedom of making choices of their own daily matters can cause the emergance of productive individuals , who can contribute to a rapid growth of a society.

To conclude, people are divided on the opinion of children's autonomy in their everyday matters, but from my point of views, they should get decision power because it can make them more mature and creative. Furthermore, they can assist in rapid success of a society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that autonomy breeds selfishness and that decision-making fosters maturity—while providing a clear personal opinion throughout the response. Ideas are extended and supported, such as the mention of young entrepreneurs and the discussion on societal cooperation. However, some arguments lack deeper elaboration, and minor sweeping generalisations occur, which places this performance firmly in Band 6.5 to 7. The position is maintained from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion, ensuring the prompt requirements are adequately fulfilled.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response features clear logical organisation and a discernible progression throughout. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the introduction, two body viewpoints, the author's nuanced stance, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as "On one hand", "On another hand", and "To conclude". However, referencing and cohesive links are sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g. "On another hand"), and transitional phrasing could be smoother. This overall coherence aligns well with a Band 6.5 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "autonomy", "socio-economic growth", and "entrepreneurs". However, there are numerous noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the essay, including "raidly" instead of rapidly, "deabte" instead of debate, "ot" instead of to, "scoiety" instead of society, "productvity" instead of productivity, "boundness" instead of boundaries or reliance, "entrepeneurs" instead of entrepreneurs, "insatnce" instead of instance, "lac" instead of lack, "donnot" instead of do not, and "emergance" instead of emergence. These lexical and spelling inaccuracies prevent the score from reaching higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures such as conditional sentences ("If someone prefers himself over societal problem, it will result into the lac of cooperation..."). However, frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and prepositions are evident throughout the text (e.g. "exist" instead of exists, "agree to the stance" instead of agree with, "providing decision power ot children", "implementing similar rule on the business industry", "from my point of views"). While these errors rarely completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the grammar score from achieving a Band 6.
