Student answer (Band 6.0)
There are two types of people in society, on one side people believes that if children are given total freedom from initial stage, they will grow up into self centered people. According to this perspective, allowing children to make their own choices regarding clothes, consumption of food or entertainment will result in a society of selfish individuals. On the other hand some people are of opinion that allowing children to make their own decisions is vital to make them self dependent and responsible member of the society. In my perspective children should make their own decision as it is necessory for the betterment of both children and society.
An significant amount of individuals believes that as children are not psychologically mature, giving them the freedom to make their everyday decisions will lead to them prioritizing their preferances over the the collective benefits of the society. Initially, their choices are of minor level so they won't effect the society. However, with time this will turn into a habit of them prioritizing themselves over others.
In contrast, some people are of perspective that giving a bit authority in earlier stages creates an illusion of self control. Children realizes that their every actions leads to a reaction. Consequently, they become more responsible and selfaware of their choices. Furthermore, the power to decide for oneself also boast self confidence. Statistices illustrates that children who make their own choices on everyday matters such as attire, food, or entertainment; are more independent then others.
In conclusion some people believe that giving children freedom of chice would result in a selfish society and some believe that it would lead to a society where everyone is independant and selfaware. I believe that giving this autonomy is vital for the children better development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that letting children make choices creates self-centred adults versus making them responsible individuals—and clearly states the writer's own opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are extended, such as explaining how small childhood decisions turn into habits or how self-control creates self-awareness. However, some arguments remain slightly under-developed and rely on general assertions rather than concrete examples. There are minor generalisations, but overall, the task is well covered, aligning closely with the requirements for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 6, rounded appropriately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, view one, view two, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'In contrast', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally faulty or mechanical. For instance, phrases like 'An significant amount of individuals' contain awkward phrasing, and paragraph transitions could flow more naturally. Additionally, some pronoun referencing is slightly ambiguous, but the logical progression remains clear throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'psychologically mature', 'self-dependent', and 'self-aware'. However, there are notable word choice errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as 'believes' instead of 'believe', 'An significant' instead of 'A significant', 'preferances' instead of 'preferences', 'boast' instead of 'boost', 'Statistices' instead of 'Statistics', 'then' instead of 'than', and 'chice' instead of 'choice'. These inaccuracies slightly hinder precision, though they do not impede overall communication, placing the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'allowing children to make their own choices regarding clothes, consumption of food or entertainment will result in a society of selfish individuals.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people believes', 'Children realizes', 'every actions leads'), incorrect articles ('An significant'), and punctuation issues, such as unnecessary semicolons ('entertainment; are'). While these errors are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally pause, the meaning remains discernible, matching the descriptors for Band 5.5 to 6.0.
