Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the currect century, people are more concerned about their own choices. And i think is it is agreeable to allow children to have their own choices. If they are allowed to make their own choices they will be self responsible for the consequences of their choices. This will allow children to make a healthy life choices. For everyday matters, children should get the chance of chosing what they want to eat and wear. But allowing them to choose everything without facing any consequences may develop the feeling of individuality that may hamper their social life in future. So i think the choices they make should be limited and even interference from the parents is important if the choices are not beneficial.
If the children are provided freedom of choices for their everyday matters, they should also be responsible for the matters that they will be affected by. They should also be given freedom to choose their career and the path they want to follow. Not only it help in their self esteem but also they gain confidence in what they want and on what extend does it effect their future. People who often get to choose what they want are considered selfish but from my opinion being selfish for what you desire is completely fine as long as it doen't affect others.
So, i think people should have a freedom of choosing whatever they want

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both views regarding children making their own choices and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, with brief explanations rather than fully extended arguments. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met, as the response contains only 236 words. This shortfall has been factored into the score, limiting the overall task response level. Phrases like 'in the currect century' show a basic attempt to introduce the topic, but the development remains restricted to general assertions without deep elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay has some basic organization, but the overall progression is somewhat disjointed. Paragraphing is attempted, though the division of ideas could be more logical. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes repetitive; for example, the frequent use of 'choices' and basic conjunctions like 'And' and 'So' at the start of sentences creates a choppy flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'what extend does it effect their future,' which impairs the smooth logical linking of ideas between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication, but it is repetitive and lacks range. Words such as 'choices', 'everyday matters', and 'feelings' are used frequently without much variation. There are also notable spelling errors, such as 'currect' instead of current, 'chosing' instead of choosing, and a collocation error in 'make a healthy life choices'. Attempts at less common vocabulary are limited, resulting in a vocabulary profile that fits the lower-intermediate band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though complex structures are often faulty. For instance, 'Not only it help in their self esteem' suffers from missing auxiliary inversion and preposition error. There are several grammatical errors throughout, including punctuation and article omissions, such as 'from my opinion' instead of 'in my opinion' and 'does it effect' instead of 'affect'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to restrict the band score.
