Student answer (Band 5.5)

many individuals believe that kids should have their own choices for the basic things such as food and clothing while others thing that it can be bad for them because of many thing that I will discuss in this passage

to begin with the first and firmest risen to not give children complete freedom of choice is that they are at a developing age of their life and same of the bad choices can really much make their future really bad such choices include consuming junk food every day that can result vary bad in their future such as heart problems or blood prater problems for an example an individual who had aloud junk food in their childhood well be less active in there 20ts compared to a parson who had highly Nurises meals in their young age in short having healthy food in the childhood id very important

on the other side of the same of the choices can help the child to be more caritive in their life such as which couthers to ware and what extra calicular activity to do apart from their study activities such as football and basketball can make them more fit while fields like chess and arts and make them more creative in short, every child should have the freedom to chouse their activity and paction of their choice

overall, I believe there are some areas in which the children shouldn't have complete freedom of choice suck as food facade it can affect their future health on the other and freedom to chouse and gave or field should be given to them

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on children making everyday choices and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For example, the argument regarding the negative impacts of junk food is extended with an explanation of potential health issues, but other points remain limited and under-developed. The position is generally clear throughout the text, though some explanations become repetitive, such as the concluding summary echoing earlier points without adding new insight. To move to a higher band, all ideas would need to be thoroughly extended and supported with clearer reasoning and more balanced weight given to both perspectives.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each view, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, though punctuation conventions are largely ignored. Cohesive devices are occasionally mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of phrases like 'in short' and 'on the other side'. Referencing is not always entirely clear, leading to some choppiness in the logical progression between sentences. To achieve a higher standard of cohesion, the writer should employ a wider and more natural variety of transition signals and ensure smoother links between supporting arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic ideas, but it is limited and hindered by frequent spelling and word-choice errors that reflect a lower proficiency band. Examples of errors include 'thing' instead of 'think', 'risen' instead of 'reason', 'same' instead of 'some', 'caritive' instead of 'creative', 'couthers' instead of 'clothes', 'ware' instead of 'wear', 'chouse' instead of 'choose', 'paction' instead of 'passion', and 'facade' instead of 'food affects'. While these errors do not completely impede overall communication, they prevent the text from reaching a more secure level. Introducing less common lexical items with greater precision and accuracy in spelling is essential for improvement.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting longer structures such as 'an individual who had allowed junk food in their childhood well be less active'. However, there are frequent errors in basic grammar, verb forms, and the complete absence of capitalization and standard punctuation. Examples include 'blood prater' (blood pressure), 'had aloud' (were allowed), 'well be' (will be), and sentences running together without periods. These grammar and punctuation issues require effort from the reader to parse meaning. To progress further, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic sentence boundaries, verb tense consistency, and punctuation.
