Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many individuals think the society in which kids are given freedom to select daily essentials for themselves, will result in a future generation who would only care about themselves. Meanwhile, there is another group of folks who is of the view, that the same freedom is pivotal to their decisive power. In my opinion, a combined approach where parents facilitate the kids, is productive as well as effective for an individual in the longer run.
While a group of the society members are of the opinion that if youngsters are given a freehand to choose what they like to have as their meal or to wear on daily basis, will result in a community where there is going to be less empathy and care for others. This might be a valid point as evident from the proverb; Excess of everything is dangerous. For instance, this will not let them understand that life needs compromises at various occasions.
The other group thinks that having a free will to choose in daily matters would help the youngsters exercise the power of decision making throughout different phases of life.
In my opinion, kids should have the say in what they feel is best for them but parents should be the one helping them decide and finalize things, as well as correcting them where needed. This would build a certain level of trust between kids and parents alongwith having an empathetic personality.
In conclusion, as much as there is concern among community for a selfish society being buildup as a result of kids having a free choice, there is another bunch of people who feels optimistic about the process. I believe, a mixed approach where parents help the kids decide choose stuff for themselves, would create a humanbeing who would be more empathetic as well as confident.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear position: parents should guide children while allowing them to choose. The discussion of the concern about selfishness is relevant, and the point that children need to learn compromise gives it some support. However, the second view is only briefly explained: you say choice develops decision-making, but do not show how this benefits children or provide a concrete example. Your own position is repeated in the conclusion, but its practical implications could be developed further. To strengthen the response, explain both sides with comparable detail and use a specific example, such as a child choosing a meal while learning to consider family needs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to the two views, your opinion and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow this progression, and linking expressions such as “Meanwhile,” “For instance” and “In conclusion” make relationships between ideas visible. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in connecting points. However, the second-view paragraph is very short, so the development feels uneven, and some references are unclear: “the process” in the conclusion could refer to children’s freedom or parental guidance. The repeated contrast between “one group” and “the other group” also makes the progression somewhat mechanical. Develop the second view and use more precise references to improve flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “freedom,” “decision making,” “compromises,” “empathy” and “empathetic.” There are also attempts at less common or formal expressions, such as “pivotal” and “facilitate,” although some choices are not natural in context. For example, “freehand” does not mean unrestricted choice here, and “decisive power” is less idiomatic than “decision-making skills.” Phrases such as “a bunch of people” and “humanbeing” are also unsuitable or incorrectly formed for this formal essay. These choices do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and register. Prefer familiar, accurate collocations and check compound forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if youngsters are given…” and a relative clause in “a future generation who would only care about themselves.” The main ideas remain understandable despite some grammatical errors. For example, the opening sentence has an unnecessary comma before “will result,” and the clause beginning “if youngsters are given…” lacks a clear main clause. There are also agreement and article errors in “another group of folks who is” and “parents should be the one.” The final sentence, “help the kids decide choose stuff,” contains an incomplete verb pattern. Review clause structure, subject–verb agreement and verb complements, then proofread punctuation; this will make your varied sentences more controlled.
