Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people believe that allowing children to make decisions on their own in daily-life such as clothes, food and entertainment results in the society where people will selfish. But other people believe that its important for children to make decisions because it matters alot. In my view, children are allowed to make decisions in the guidance of parents.

The people who think children should allowed to make decisions on their own are not completely wrong but too much freedom makes children selfish. With the passage of time, they don't even understand what other person want. For example, when a children get too much freedom without the parent's guidance, they get detracked. In the early age, they don't have sense to take good decisions, they don't even know, what's best for their future. They don't know, what to do. They need guidance at this stage. Thats the reason, they should'nt get the freedom which destroy them in future.

On the other hand, some people believe that children should allowed to take decisions. They are partially right but children always need their guidance. Because if they are allowed to take decisions freely , they will take wrong decisions which will further damage themselves. But in the right guidance, they should get trained by their parents that how to take good decisions at the right time. Because it gives them confidence. They learn taking wise decisions which helps them in their mature age when life need the right and best decisions on time. Thats why they must allowed to take decisions but in their parent's guidance.

Some people believe children should'nt allowed to take decisions on their own so that they will get selfish and other people believe that children should take decisions which matters alot because it affects them. Both believes are right on their own but in the supervision of the parents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and state a position: children should make decisions with parental guidance. The examples about children needing help to judge what is best for their future and learning confidence are relevant. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first view is mainly presented as a risk of selfishness, while the benefits of children making everyday choices are not clearly explained; the second view largely repeats the need for guidance. The conclusion also says both beliefs are right without clearly restating how you balance them. To strengthen the response, explain the value of age-appropriate choices and support your position with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal a change in viewpoint. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited: several sentences repeat that children need guidance or may make wrong decisions, rather than adding distinct supporting points. Some links are unclear, as in “Because it gives them confidence,” where the reference is not precise, and “Both believes are right on their own” does not clearly connect to the qualified position in the introduction. Organise each body paragraph around one view, develop it with a reason and example, and use references and linking phrases more precisely to make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “freedom,” “guidance,” “confidence” and “decisions.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, particularly “take decisions” and “guidance.” Some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “detracked,” “it matters alot,” and “the society where people will selfish.” These choices sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Build a more precise range for discussing independence and responsibility, and check spelling and natural word combinations. For example, “make choices,” “become self-centred,” and “parental supervision” would express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional structures such as “when a children get too much freedom” and clauses explaining consequences. However, errors are frequent, and some complex attempts are faulty, which can make meaning difficult to follow. Examples include missing verbs or incorrect forms in “children should allowed,” “they will selfish,” and “they must allowed”; agreement errors in “a children get”; and missing or incorrect articles and punctuation in “in the early age” and “They don't even know, what's best.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb patterns after “should/must,” and sentence boundaries. Proofreading these recurring patterns would make your argument clearer.
