Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowdays, people tends to make decisions for themselves rather than relying on the parents or friends. we will elaborate on the narratives of whether the guardians should make plans for their ward or allow them to do that.
Firstly, the children tend to be independent when they become an adult. This is because as they grow up with the unerstanding of what they want and do not want is known. for example; a childhood friend who likes waking up early and making plans for her day is now able and capable organized herself more than when she was little. She does her business effortlessly.
Secondly, when opportunity are given to the little ones to choose for themselves, they tend to be selfish and thinks that the world revolves around them. They always put their problems first evenif the case is not a big deal for them compared to the others who are in need. for instance; a youngster who choose to go to school with many snacks but fail to share with his/her classmates. Despite, having alot to eat they tend to ignore their peers. Another example of a young person who is good at dance but fail to teach the friends. He/she wants to be the best, thereby looking down on others.
Nevertheless,I believe that children should be given a chance to make their own wishes on their everyday activities but should not be left on their own. The parents, guardians and teacher have a role to play in montoring the younger ones on their choices and make the necessary correction when needed..
In conclusion, People should allow their kids to make their choices on their daily activities rather than thinking it would turn them into a selfish individuals or affect them positively or negatively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear overall position: children should make everyday choices, but adults should guide them. The paragraph about independence is relevant, and the examples of not sharing snacks or dance skills illustrate the concern that children may become self-centred. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The first example focuses on one friend’s routine without clearly explaining how this demonstrates the benefits of children making choices, while the examples in the second view are asserted rather than explored. Your conclusion also introduces the unclear phrase “affect them positively or negatively” instead of reinforcing your reasoning. Explain the consequences of each view more directly and connect each example to your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Nevertheless,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, “This is because as they grow up…” does not clearly connect the general claim about independence to the example that follows. “Despite, having a lot to eat” is also an awkward transition, and the conclusion repeats the main position without clearly summarising the discussion. Use linking phrases that show the precise relationship between claims and examples, and make references such as “they” and “that” unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “independent,” “selfish,” “guardians,” and “choices,” and phrases such as “the world revolves around them” communicate the concern effectively. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, or collocation errors make parts less natural, such as “elaborate on the narratives,” “make their own wishes,” and “making the necessary correction.” “Ward” is also an unusual choice for children in this context. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main ideas, but they reduce precision and fluency. Aim for natural topic-specific phrases, and check spelling and word forms carefully. For example, use “discuss the views,” “make their own decisions,” and “provide guidance” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a contrast introduced by “but.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, sentence construction, and punctuation remain. Examples include “people tends,” “when opportunity are given,” and “a youngster who choose… but fail,” where the subjects and verbs do not agree. The sentence beginning “as they grow up with the understanding…” is also structurally unclear, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters or have inconsistent punctuation. Review subject–verb agreement and make sure each sentence has a clear main clause. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
