Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the contemporary era, some people believe that childern should not be allowed to make their own choices because they become selfish. However, other think that childern should make decisions about their daily lives. In my opinion, children should be allowed to make some decision, but parents guide them and setting limits.
On the other hand, some people believe that aloowing children to make decision thir own self make them selfish. This is becuse the childern may only think about their own wishes and ignore the needs of others. For example, If children always choose what they wwant to eat, they may refuse healthy foods such as vegetables. Similarly, they may spend too much time playing games instead of studying. Therefore, parents should set some rules and teach their children discipline and respect of others.
On the other hand, I believe that allowing childern to make decision is important for their personal development. When children choose their clothes, foods or hobbies, they leran to become independent and responsible. Morover, they can understand the result of their own decision. For example, Parents can allow their children to choose their favourite subject and sports. This can increase their confidence and help them to discover their interest. As a result, they may become more res[onsible adults in the future.
In conclsuion, although giving children complete freedom may make them selfish, allowing them to make suitable decisions has many benefits. I believe parents should give their childern some freedom while providing proper guidance and setting responsible limits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear opinion: children should have some freedom while parents provide guidance and limits. The discussion of possible selfishness is relevant, with examples about refusing vegetables and choosing games over study; the benefits are also supported through independence, confidence and discovering interests. This fully covers the task and shows some development beyond simply listing opinions. However, the examples are brief, and the explanation of how everyday choices teach children to consider others could be extended. The point about choosing a favourite subject or sport is useful, but its link to decisions about everyday matters could be made clearer. More explanation of these ideas would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “Similarly,” and “As a result” help show how examples relate to the main points. However, the repeated opening “On the other hand” for both body paragraphs is not an accurate contrast in the first instance, since that paragraph presents the opposing concern rather than a contrast with a preceding developed argument. Some connections are also mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs could be smoother. Use a more precise transition such as “One concern is that…” and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s central claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “independent,” “responsible,” “discipline,” and “confidence.” The topic vocabulary is generally appropriate, and the reader can understand your position. However, the range is somewhat repetitive, especially around “children,” “make decisions,” and “their own,” and several spelling errors reduce accuracy: “childern,” “aloowing,” “becuse,” and “Morover.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “respect of others” and “discover their interest.” Aim to vary repeated wording and check spelling carefully; more natural collocations would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and some complex forms, including “although giving children complete freedom may make them selfish” and “When children choose their clothes, foods or hobbies…”. These structures help express contrast, cause and result. However, some grammatical errors remain, including “other think” instead of “others think,” “make some decision” instead of a plural form, and “parents guide them and setting limits,” where the verb forms do not match. There are also problems with sentence punctuation and capitalisation, such as the comma spacing in the opening and capitalising “If” and “Parents” mid-sentence. Review agreement, parallel verb forms, articles and punctuation to improve control.
