Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people think that allowing children to make their own choices on daily life matter such as food, clothes and entertainment is likely to result in a society of individuals those who only thought about their own wishes. Others think that it is important for children to make decisions about matter that affect them. I believe that children should give them opportunity to make choices in every matter but there should be pauses.

On the one hand, people belive that allowing children to make their own choices can be very beneficial in a society of indivisuals. It is because, they don't have to struggle when no one is helping them. In my personal experience, I have recently stay in UK, longer than 10 months, with the help of being independently since childhood motivated me live there easily. Moreover, my parents allow me to make my own choices in every matter like buying things, storing money and wearing cloths etc, generated me stronger person that can solve problem and boost my confidence.

On the other hand, there should be pauses before every choices, so parent should wait and understand is it harmful for child or not. For example, if parent do not focus in his children choices, so it can be dangerous for them, if they eat anything in every store which can effect their health. Moreover, children will not understand the logic of parents when they will only listen to their own choices.

Overview, children should be allowed to make choices but there should be limitation if they effect to his mental and body health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both views and give a position: children should be able to choose, but with limits. The examples about living independently in the UK and parents monitoring food choices are relevant, but the first view is developed more than the opposing view, and the explanation of how choices might create selfish individuals is not directly addressed. Your conclusion repeats your position without adding much support. The response is also below the required 250 words: it contains 223 words, with 42 words copied from the prompt excluded from the count. This limits the space available to explain both sides and support your opinion. Develop the concern about self-centredness and explain more fully when parental guidance is necessary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “Moreover” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from independence to your UK experience and then to confidence without fully connecting these points to the concern about selfishness. Some transitions are mechanical, and references such as “they” and “it” do not always make the intended meaning clear. The conclusion begins with “Overview,” which is not a natural signal here. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “independently,” “confidence,” “harmful,” and “choices,” and the reader can generally understand your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less precise. For example, “there should be pauses” does not clearly express the idea of setting limits, while “storing money” and “wearing cloths” are not natural choices in this context. There are also spelling errors such as “belive” and “indivisuals.” Aim to use more precise phrases for parental guidance and children’s autonomy, and check spelling and collocations carefully. This will make your argument clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if parent do not focus,” and use clauses to explain reasons. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “I have recently stay,” “parent should wait and understand is it harmful,” and “children will not understand … when they will only listen.” The opening also contains an awkward relative clause in “individuals those who only thought.” These patterns show that complex structures are being attempted but are not yet reliably controlled. Practise forming conditional sentences and indirect questions, and check subject–verb agreement and tense consistency when editing.
