Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people think that allowing children to make their own decisions on every day matters is the result childresn only care about thier own wishes, but the other people think that it is important for children to make decisions about the things that effect them.
I belive that children should nbe allowed to make thier own decisions about their daily lives, bur parents shoul alos guids them, although making thier own choices helps children become independent and confident, too much feedom may make then selfish. Therefore, parent should give children freedom but teaching them to respect others and undestand their responsibilities.
There are few drawbacks of, giving the childrens freedom about make thir own decisions. One main issue is when childrens are free to do anything they want, such as food clothes and entertaiment they think they do wahtever they want, wheras the sense of freedom cause the slefishnes and disrespect to eldors.
On the other hand, I belivee that children should be allowed to make their own decisions because it helps them ecome independent. children make their own decison with freedom make childrens independent and create a sense of maturity, but the help of parrents is also important, because with the help of parrents advice and support childrens make decisions more accuratly and give respect to the other.
In conclusion, although giving children too mucjh freedom may make them selfish, I belive that they should be allowed to make their own decision under parental guidence. This helps them becom independant, confident and responsible individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a clear overall position: children should make choices, but with parental guidance. The points about independence, confidence, selfishness and respect are relevant. However, the opposing view is only briefly explained, and the examples remain general; for instance, you mention food, clothes and entertainment without showing how unrestricted choices might affect a child or society. Your own view is repeated more than it is developed, so the response only partially fulfils the task’s request to discuss both sides with reasons and examples. The response is also 244 words, below the required 250-word minimum. Develop each side with a specific example and explain how it supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting drawbacks, a paragraph supporting children’s choices, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are repeated, especially that children’s choices build independence and that too much freedom may cause selfishness. Some links are unclear, as in “wheras the sense of freedom cause the slefishnes,” which makes the relationship between the ideas difficult to follow. To improve, organise each body paragraph around one main point, explain it in sequence, and use clear references rather than repeating the same claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “independent,” “confident,” “maturity,” “responsibilities” and “parental guidance.” These terms help communicate the main argument. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “make their own decisions” and “freedom.” Frequent spelling errors—such as “childresn,” “thier,” “entertaiment” and “independant”—also make the writing less clear and reduce the accuracy of word use. Some expressions are awkward, for example “the result childresn only care” and “make decisions more accurately.” Build a wider set of precise phrases for discussing choice and responsibility, and proofread spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “although” and a reason clause with “because.” This shows an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms occur frequently. For example, “There are few drawbacks of, giving” has an incorrect construction and punctuation, while “the sense of freedom cause” lacks subject–verb agreement. In “children make their own decison with freedom make childrens independent,” the clauses are not joined correctly. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check agreement and punctuation.
