Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals of the society think that allowing young ones to make their own choices on daily basic matters like food, clothes and entertainment is going to make a society, in which people will only think about their own desires. Other some people believe that it is crucial for the children to take decisions that affect them. I believe that both groups of society people are thinking right up to some extent.
On one side, people think that if children make their decisions on their own, it will make them someone who only thinks about their own wishes and it will result in a society of population, who is selfish. Yes, this thought may be right because a person who get choice in everything, slowly his/her desires get more and more higher. For example, sometimes we don't know what's right or wrong as a young person. Our elders always know the best for us, beacuse they have the experience. So, we should'nt always get to choose.
On the other side, those individuals who think that childeren should have choices to make their own, are also right up to some extent. When a person makes a choice, he understands the situation and that help to make him mature. At some point in life we have no one, at that moment our choosing ability will work for us.
In my opinion, we should ask the chidren their will and desire but not always and in everthing. Some will take decision making on their own in positive way and get better in life, while some will get selfish or only think about their own wishes. So, we should allow the children to make decision but up to some extent.
In conclusion, decision making brings maturity to children. we should allow them to make decisions on their own, but in a limit so if any child goes in wrong direction we could control that person.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both views and give a clear, consistent opinion: children should be allowed to decide, but only to a limited extent. The two main body paragraphs also address the opposing arguments, and the example about young people relying on elders helps explain why unrestricted choice may be problematic. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully developed. For instance, the claim that having choices makes desires grow and leads to selfishness needs a clearer explanation or a specific example. The benefits of decision-making are also only briefly linked to maturity and future independence. To strengthen the response, explain how everyday choices can teach responsibility while showing where parental guidance is necessary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On one side,” “On the other side,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. However, these transitions are somewhat mechanical, and some connections between ideas are not fully clear. For example, “At some point in life we have no one” is not explicitly connected to how practising choices prepares children for that situation. The opinion paragraph also repeats the central point from the introduction and conclusion rather than developing it further. Use more precise links between claims and explanations, and make references such as “that moment” clearer by naming the situation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including relevant terms such as “desires,” “mature,” “selfish,” and “decision making.” However, word choice and collocation are often unnatural or repetitive, which limits precision. Phrases such as “society of population,” “take decisions,” and “their will and desire” do not sound idiomatic in this context; “society,” “make decisions,” and “their preferences” would be more natural. There are also spelling errors, including “beacuse,” “childeren,” and “everthing.” Aim to use a smaller set of accurate, natural expressions rather than repeating “choices” and “wishes,” and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if children make their decisions on their own” and a contrast introduced by “while.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “a person who get choice” has subject–verb and article problems, while “that help to make him mature” needs agreement and a clearer structure. The sentence beginning “Yes, this thought may be right because…” also shifts awkwardly between a general person and “his/her.” Punctuation and capitalisation need attention, particularly the lowercase “we” after the conclusion’s opening. Practise accurate agreement and complete sentence patterns, then check each sentence for consistent subjects and verbs.
