Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The question, between allowing children to make their own choices results in a consequence where people think about their own wishes and the importance of allowing children to make decision about matters that effect them, remains a matter of controversy. I firmly agree with the foremost statement because allowing children to do everything what they want ultimately make them arrogant as a result they will not respect others points of views.
There is nothing bad in allowing children to take decision about their own life but the problem is when they are allowed to make their own choices on everyday matters such what they eat or wear. This makes the children stubborn because they know there is no rejection; they can choose whatever they want no matter what the situation is. As a result, those children want their own individuals society where only their wishes will rule the whole society without respecting others opinion. For example, there is a book on parenting which reveals that most of childrens who are allowed to make choices on every simple matters, become the most self centered at the adult stage of their life and they cannot tolerate any decision against their choices.
While it is not preferable to permit children to take decision on every single matter but it is necessary to allow them to take some important decision about their life such as career or marriage which will ultimately affect their whole life. If children are not allowed to involve in decision that related to their life, they will get depressed and blame to others for any kind of sufferings of their life. Furthermore, they know well about the well-being of themselves so they will choose the best opportunity for them to utilize their hidden talents. For instance, girls in Bangladesh are always dominated by their families as they cannot take the decision about their career and they are forced to marry someone against their choices as a result it brings lifetime suffering for them.
In conclusion, it cannot be denied that children must have the right to take major decision of their life but allowing them to provide their opinion on every matters will not bring something useful. So, I compelety agree with the later statement that a society of individuals will result when children get the facility to make choices on everything according to they want.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both perspectives and state a position, especially in the opening and conclusion: you support children having a say in important decisions while warning against unrestricted choice. The examples about career and marriage in Bangladesh help explain why decisions affecting a child’s future matter. However, the first view is developed more through broad claims than clear explanation, and the reference to an unnamed parenting book is difficult to verify or assess. The conclusion also becomes unclear: it says you agree with the “later statement” but then suggests that society becomes self-centred when children can choose everything. Clarify which view you support and distinguish everyday choices from major life decisions consistently. More specific reasoning would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each perspective, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “As a result,” “Furthermore,” and “For instance” help show relationships between ideas, and the Bangladesh example is placed appropriately in the paragraph about consequential decisions. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. In particular, the final sentence appears to contradict your stated position, and “While it is not preferable…” does not smoothly establish the contrast that follows. References such as “those children” and “the later statement” could also be more precise. To strengthen progression, use topic sentences that clearly identify each view and ensure the conclusion restates the same position as the introduction.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “self-centered,” “dominated,” “well-being,” and “hidden talents,” which helps discuss children’s independence and future choices. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a matter of controversy.” However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning awkward: “take decision,” “every simple matters,” “their own individuals society,” and “blame to others” are not natural expressions. Spelling and word-form errors, including “compelety” and “childrens,” also reduce precision. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check forms carefully; for example, use “make decisions,” “everyday matters,” and “blame others.” This would make your ideas clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses with “because,” “while,” and “as a result,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as “If children are not allowed to involve in decision that related to their life, they will get depressed,” although this example also shows areas to improve. Errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and clause construction occur in several places: “allowing children to do everything what they want ultimately make them,” “others points of views,” and “it brings lifetime suffering for them.” There are also long sentences where punctuation and clause boundaries need attention. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and building complex sentences with clear, complete clauses; this will improve accuracy while preserving the range you are attempting.
