Student answer (Band 5.0)

children should make decisions on every small and daily activities so parents should support them.

Now, a days some people belive that children with their decisions results to think about their own needs and leads to society of individuals. childrens should have different opinions and choices in everything so parents and teachers should guide them to choose the right choice where childrens have right to take own decisions regarding every day needs like food, clothing, entertainment etc. but giving the freedom to choose everything by their own leads to destruction.

Other people believe that it is neccessary to children to pick their own choices that benefits them in future that includes carrer growth and make childrens to be independent they must know right choices which benefits them in future or make them happier then it leads childrens that they took right decisions.

In my opinion, i support that childrens make their own choices because it leads to independent society not every choice is a good choice so the educations system and parents should guide them which leads to development and makes future brighter.

in Conclusion, giving too much freedom may leads children to encourage selfish behaviour and also not giving freedom may leads children to become dependent on the society so both are not good with proper guidance and good communication the childrens should be taken care by their respective parents and teachers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and state your opinion: you explain that too much freedom may encourage selfishness, while making choices can help children become independent. However, the discussion is only partial and the ideas are under-developed. For example, the first view is introduced, but the claim that freedom leads to “destruction” is not explained or supported with an example. Your opinion is present, but the reasoning that children’s choices create an “independent society” needs clearer explanation. The response also contains 233 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each view and add a relevant example, such as how choosing meals can teach responsibility when parents set healthy limits.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, with separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of your answer. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the opening sentence immediately takes a position, and the first body paragraph moves between children’s opinions, parental guidance, and the risks of freedom without showing how these points connect. Linking phrases such as “Other people believe” and “In my opinion” are useful, but connections within paragraphs are often repetitive or unclear. The conclusion repeats the two-sided argument rather than drawing the discussion together. Organise each body paragraph around one main view, then use clear references and transitions to connect its explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “independent,” “freedom,” “selfish behaviour,” and “right decisions,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, particularly “choices,” “children,” and “leads.” Some word combinations are unclear or unnatural, such as “results to think about their own needs” and “choose the right choice.” Spelling errors, including “belive,” “neccessary,” and “carrer,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise alternatives and vary repeated terms—for example, use “make decisions,” “develop autonomy,” or “consider their own preferences,” depending on the meaning. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations so your ideas sound clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast in “not every choice is a good choice so the educations system and parents should guide them.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “children with their decisions results,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “it is neccessary to children to pick,” which has an incorrect sentence pattern. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and verb forms, as in “the childrens should be taken care” and “may leads.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, especially in the long final sentence. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then build longer sentences using clear conjunctions and correct verb forms.
