Student answer (Band 5.0)

These days some people seem to argue that giving full authority to youngster to make their own control on daily matters such as wear, meal and fun is likely to end in a society of individuals who only think about their self wishes. On the other hand, others are of the opinion that it is necessary for pupil to take decisions about matters that affect them. I will discuss both the views.

In the first place, it would be quite true to say that giving authority to youngster of own decision can boost their confidence, helps in decision making. For instance, If the children choose their daily wear dress by ourself, they can improve their dressing sense. Another major example is a youngster can choose their favourite fun activities, they can enjoy it fully. Another major advantage of this side of the topic seems to be that allowing youngster to eat whatever they want. For instance, giving authority to children that they can eat their favourite food in restaurant can comfortable them in family gatherings.

Whereas according to some school of thought it can be argued that parents or elders can take their life decisions that are beneficial for children. For instance, healthy food is beneficial for children and it can boost their energy. Another example is, sometime entertainment results in unappropriate activity. Parents monitor their daily activities and allow them to enjoy in their limit.

Despite these advantages and positive elements the downside can not be overlooked as some claim that parents can restrict their children to take any decision of their life. It can low their confidence and build inferiority complexion. For instance, two boys met in any ocassion and one told the other one that his parents gave full control to wear they want, how he feels after listening this. In addition to this, the other element playing a pivotal role, maybe children feel stressed when they have no own choice of selecting cartoon or any other game.

In conclusion, i am convinced to believe that parents can allow their children to take that decision that are beneficial for them. Listen his opinion and teach them right or wrong.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views: the first body paragraph discusses children choosing clothes, food and entertainment, while the next explains why parents may guide decisions about healthy food and activities. Your conclusion also gives a position—that parents should allow choices that are beneficial and teach children right from wrong. However, the discussion is only partial because the ideas are often asserted rather than explained. For example, the restaurant example does not clearly show how unrestricted food choices benefit children, and the example about two boys is difficult to interpret. Clarify your position on how much choice children should have, then develop each view with a relevant, clearly explained example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two perspectives, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad organisation. You also use signposts such as “In the first place,” “Whereas,” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within and between paragraphs is not consistently clear. The paragraph beginning “Despite these advantages” shifts to parental restrictions and children’s stress without clearly connecting this point to the preceding discussion. Some linking phrases are repetitive or do not express the relationship accurately, and references such as “this side of the topic” are vague. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it in sequence, and use clearer links between the claim and its example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “confidence,” “decision making,” “healthy food,” and “monitor,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “pivotal role.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear: “full authority to youngster,” “comfortable them,” and “inferiority complexion” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Repetition of “another major example” and “allowing youngster” also limits flexibility. Choose precise, familiar expressions before attempting more elaborate wording, and check collocations and word forms. For example, describe children as gaining confidence, feeling comfortable, or developing an inferiority complex, depending on the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional phrasing such as “If the children choose…” and a contrast introduced by “Whereas.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, pronouns, and sentence construction sometimes make the message difficult to follow. Examples include “giving authority to youngster … can boost their confidence, helps,” “a youngster can choose their favourite fun activities,” and “Listen his opinion.” The sentence about two boys is also structurally unclear. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, check singular–plural agreement and pronoun forms, and use punctuation to separate complete ideas. More accurate control of these patterns would make your arguments easier to understand.
