Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, compulsory education for children upto 18 years has become a topic of debate among various groups. Many people believe education should be madatory for children whereas, the opponents suggest the contrary. I firmly believe education should given to each and every children who are the bright future of our country.

On the one hand, many people argue education should definitely be provided to children until the age of 18 and then they can make decision on their own if they want to continue their studies or if they want to start working, but either ways they must consider getting them education. Some people even suggest that, there should be strict laws which supports the idea of eductaion until the children turns 18 and those who break these law should be punished strictly.

On the other hand, some indidviduals thinks it should not be made mandatory, not every children wants to have education or some kids won't develop their interest in studies and forcing them will lead them to be more rebellious. Instead they suggest it should be option, those who wants to proceed with education they can and those who are not interested should be given some skills they are intersted in.

To sum up, i would highly agree that students should get full time education unti they turn 18 and then they can start their own buisness or start any sort of job but it is better to have a backup plan in form of education which will always support you in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support education being compulsory until 18, and you acknowledge the opposing view that some young people may prefer practical skills or work. This addresses the central question and gives relevant reasons. However, the support is uneven: the argument for strict laws is reported rather than explained, and the concern that forcing uninterested students could make them rebellious is not answered directly. The final point about education as a “backup plan” is relevant, but it would be stronger with a specific example or explanation of how schooling benefits young people later. Develop each main reason and connect it more explicitly to why compulsory education should continue to 18.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion that restates your view. This makes the progression easy to follow. The contrast between the two positions is also relevant and generally well organised. To make the cohesion more natural and precise, avoid relying mainly on formulaic transitions and improve links between claims and explanations. For example, the point about strict laws could be followed by a sentence explaining why enforcement would help children. Some references, such as “they” in the discussion of skills and education, could be made more explicit. A clearer progression from reasons to supporting examples would strengthen the essay.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your ideas, including “compulsory education,” “mandatory,” “rebellious,” and “backup plan.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “the opponents suggest the contrary.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “madatory,” “eductaion,” “indidviduals,” and “buisness.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “getting them education” and “start their own business or start any sort of job.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding your position, but they limit precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and build a wider set of natural collocations for education, employment, and practical training.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrastive structure beginning “On the other hand” and a longer sentence explaining the possible effects of forcing students to study. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “education should given” is missing a verb form, “each and every children” has a number-agreement problem, and “some individuals thinks” has subject–verb disagreement. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “it should be option.” Review verb forms, singular and plural agreement, and article use. Breaking up some long sentences and checking each clause for a complete, correctly formed structure would improve accuracy.
