Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, the question "Should full time education become compulsory for children until the age of 18 years?" became a widely debated topic. While some people believe that young people should continue their studies until they reach this age. I firmly believe that the full time education should be compulsory for the children until the age of 18 years. This essay will explain the main reasons for my positon.

The primary reason why I hold this view is that the children under the age of 18 are still in their development period and full time studies help them to focus on their goals efficently and effectively. In other words, full time education plays a crucial role in the character development and building discipline in childrens. For instance, in Pakistan the parents who send their childrens in the schools where full time education is mandatory; their childrens tend to be more optimistic and career oriented in future rather than the children who take education as not their first priority. As a result, the children who take full time education until the age of 18 will more likely become successful in future.

Another important factor to consider is that the full time education is also important because it will allow parents to their other tasks while their child is being taught at school. This is particularly evident in countries like America and Canada. For instance, in America people sent their childrens to schools and then do their jobs and other activites freely. On the other hand, in Pakistan the husband goes on the job and his wife take care of their children. Consequently, womens will more likely become house wife and become financially dependant on their husbands.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that full time education should become mandatory for the children until age of 18 years. This is mainly because it will help the children grew faster and become more career oriented. In addition, the parents will also be free to do their other tasks effiecntly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you support making education compulsory until 18, and you give reasons related to children’s development and parents’ ability to work. These points are relevant, and the Pakistan and North American examples help illustrate them. However, the first reason is more fully explained than the second. The claim that schooling makes children “more optimistic and career oriented” is broad and would benefit from a clearer explanation or specific evidence. The point about parents’ work also shifts into a comparison of gender roles without fully showing why this supports compulsory education until 18. Develop each reason more directly and acknowledge a possible drawback, such as the needs of young people who prefer vocational training.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each body paragraph has a central topic, and signposts such as “The primary reason,” “Another important factor,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. This gives the essay a coherent arrangement. Some connections, however, feel mechanical or do not clearly express the relationship between ideas. For example, “On the other hand” introduces a contrast between countries, but the comparison’s relevance to the argument is not fully explained. Repeated references to “children” and “full time education” also make the flow less flexible. Use clearer referencing and link each example explicitly to the reason it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your position, including “compulsory,” “character development,” “discipline,” and “career oriented.” These choices show an attempt to go beyond very basic wording. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “development period,” “take education as not their first priority,” “do their jobs and other activites freely,” and “financially dependant” are awkward or inaccurate in context. There are also repeated forms such as “children” and “full time education.” Build a wider set of natural phrases for schooling, employment, and personal development, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “While,” “because,” and “who,” and the main meaning is generally clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “This is particularly evident in countries like America and Canada.” However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries remain. For example, “While some people believe…” is a dependent clause presented as a complete sentence, “the full time education should be compulsory” has an unnecessary article, and “his wife take care” has a subject–verb agreement error. The conclusion also uses “will help the children grew,” where the verb form is incorrect. Review these patterns and proofread each sentence, while continuing to practise varied complex structures.
