Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I hope youu are doing well. I am writing this letter to express my happiness and joy of successful event, which organized at your hotel. I am a manger of Walker industries. On the 20th december, our company organized annual party at your hotel, where we distributed different prizes to the companey's employees, and we announced goals and upcoming projects of company for next year. Company also organized dinner at hotel for everybody.
Furthermore, there are ample things i liked about this hotel. Firstly, Food were totally delicious and mouthwatering, which was main highlight of this party. Staffs were extremely polite and friendly. on top of it, decoration of party was breathtaking, which made our party more premium as welll as grand.
However, I observed some issues during event, which i would like to mention. Foremost one is that sound system was poor, because of connectivity between mic and speaker while somebody was given speech on stage. Lastly, parking speces were limited. Therefore, i got number of compains from employees that the they did not get spot at hotel, which encourged them to park at street. Eventually, they got parking ticket.
I hope you are working on those negative points.
Best Regards,
Krinesh Gosai

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three requested points and maintain a clear, appropriate purpose: you identify the company event, describe what you valued, and report problems for the manager to consider. The details about the annual party, prize-giving, next year’s plans and dinner make the event clear. You also support your positive comments with examples, such as the food, staff and decorations, and explain the consequences of limited parking. To make the response more fully developed, clarify the event’s scale or arrangements and make your improvement requests more specific—for example, ask for the sound equipment to be tested and for additional parking guidance or spaces. The closing could also state more directly what action you hope the manager will take.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression from its purpose and event details to positive feedback, problems and a closing. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow these stages, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “Firstly,” “However” and “Lastly” make the relationships between points clear. This is an effective overall structure. At times, however, the linking feels somewhat formulaic, and some references are not fully smooth: “Foremost one” does not clearly connect to a specific earlier list, while “those negative points” is a broad reference to two distinct issues. Use transitions more naturally and refer directly to the sound system and parking in the final sentence. This would make cohesion more flexible and the ending more purposeful.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal complaint-and-feedback letter, including “annual party,” “upcoming projects,” “connectivity,” “breathtaking” and “limited.” These choices communicate the event and your reactions clearly, and the reader can understand the problems described. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, however, such as “happiness and joy of successful event,” “Food were,” “more premium,” and “number of compains.” Spelling errors in “manger,” “companey's,” “speces” and “encourged” also reduce precision. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the food as “delicious” and the decorations as making the event feel “more elegant.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses explaining the event and the parking consequences. The overall meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur and make parts of the letter less controlled. For example, “which organized at your hotel” needs a passive verb (“which was held”), and “Food were” has a subject–verb agreement error. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction in “of successful event” and “while somebody was given speech.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “on top of it” after a full stop. Practise accurate passive forms, agreement and article use, then proofread sentence boundaries and capital letters. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the response.
