Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to share a feedback. I recently advised my company to organize an event at your hotel and I particularly like the way your team has shown gratitude. I was impressed with the infrastructure of the hotel. Your hotel is equipped with fire safety to air conditioner which improved our experience. Furthermore, there were several activities that we were able to partiipate after our meeting. Among all services, I was impressed with Indoor swimming pools, jacuzzi and sauna.
I asked your staff at the end of the event to organize my birthday party, but they said currently they are only allowing company's event. I would suggest you to allow us to have a private function at your hotel. It is very convenient because it located in the center of the city and connectivity to public transport is very convenient.
Please let me know when you start booking order for private events.
Thanks
Kind regards,
Vaibhav

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three requested points: it identifies a company event, describes positive features of the hotel, and proposes allowing private functions. The details about the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and central location make the praise relevant, while the request to open bookings for private events gives the manager a clear suggestion. However, the event itself is only briefly described; adding its purpose, approximate size, or how the facilities supported it would make this part more fully developed. The improvement point is also somewhat narrow, as it focuses on expanding the types of events permitted rather than identifying a service or facility that could be improved. A more explicit, developed suggestion would strengthen the letter’s response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a generally clear sequence: the opening explains the reason for writing, the first main paragraph gives positive feedback, and the next raises the private-event issue before closing with a request. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “Among all services” help connect details, and the reader can follow the overall purpose. To make the progression more polished, separate the event details and the hotel’s strengths more deliberately, then give the improvement suggestion its own focused paragraph. Some connections are slightly abrupt—for example, the move from describing leisure facilities to asking about a birthday party—and the final request could refer more directly to the proposed change. These refinements would make cohesion less dependent on straightforward transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses a relevant range of vocabulary for a formal letter, including “infrastructure,” “public transport,” “private function,” and “organize,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, noticeable problems with word choice, collocation, and spelling that limit precision. “Shown gratitude” does not clearly express the intended praise for the staff’s service, and “fire safety to air conditioner” is an unclear description of the hotel’s facilities. “Booking order” is also not a natural phrase in this context, while “partiipate” contains a spelling error. Aim for more precise descriptions of the event and facilities, and check common collocations before using them. This would make the vocabulary more natural and effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including “I recently advised my company to organize an event at your hotel” and the sentence beginning “I asked your staff at the end of the event.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “I particularly like” should be “I particularly liked” when describing a past visit, and “I would suggest you to allow” needs a different pattern, such as “I would suggest allowing.” The sentence “It is very convenient because it located…” is missing “is,” and “connectivity to public transport is very convenient” would benefit from a clearer grammatical construction. Review tense consistency, verb patterns, and sentence completeness while retaining varied sentence forms.
