Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writinh this letter about the event which we organized at main hall of your hotel. It was an annual award party for the employees of Petrotec. Families of the employees were also invited in the party. More than 500 people attended this party. Apart from awards, musical bands were also invited to perform and entertain the people attending the party.
The hotel services were excellent during this event. Proper guidance were provided for the guest from enterance to the main hall. sufficent parking spaces were available as well. Kids paly area was very good, proper safety measures were available in the kids play area. Most important thing that every body was admiring, the food served during this event, it was very testy and presentation was fantastic. BBQ was the most demanding dish for every one.
There are areas which can be improved in future events, sitting space was not sufficent and no additional space was provided. One more imporyamt thing is about the emergency exit doors were not in proper working condition.
Your faithufully,
Zahid

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three required points: it identifies the occasion as Petrotec’s annual employee awards party, describes what you valued about the hotel, and raises concerns for future events. Details such as the attendance of more than 500 people, invited families and musical performances make the event clear. Your praise of the guidance, parking, children’s area and food is relevant, while limited seating and emergency exits are specific improvement points. This clear coverage and supporting detail make the response effective. To strengthen it further, explain the impact of the seating shortage or the exit problem, and make the request to the manager more explicit—for example, asking that the exits be checked before another event. The closing could also be more appropriate for a formal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear, sensible order: event details come first, followed by positive comments and then suggestions for improvement. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Apart from” and “as well” connect related details. The progression is easy to follow throughout. Some connections within the paragraphs are less smooth, however: the shift from the children’s area to “Most important thing” feels abrupt, and the final paragraph presents two concerns without explaining their relative importance or linking them to a clear request. Use a few more precise transitions, and group related praise together—for example, facilities and food—to make the letter’s progression feel more deliberate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the event and your evaluation, including “annual award party,” “musical bands,” “safety measures,” “emergency exit doors” and “presentation.” The range is relevant, but several spelling errors and awkward or repetitive expressions reduce precision and naturalness. Examples include “writinh,” “enterance,” “sufficent,” “paly,” “testy” and “faithufully”; “every body” and “every one” are also written as separate words. Phrases such as “most demanding dish” do not convey the intended meaning naturally. Proofread spelling carefully and choose more idiomatic collocations, such as “most popular dish” and “the food was delicious.” This would make your positive and critical comments clearer and more polished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter communicates its main points, and you attempt some longer structures, including “Families of the employees were also invited” and the sentence describing the food and its presentation. However, the range is mostly built from simple statements, and errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “Proper guidance were provided” should be “Proper guidance was provided,” while “at main hall” needs an article (“at the main hall”). The sentence beginning “Most important thing that every body was admiring” is not a complete, well-formed sentence; recast it as “What everyone admired most was the food.” The final improvement sentence also needs clearer structure. Practise combining ideas accurately with subordinate clauses, while checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
