Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The letter is relevant to the situation and begins to address the hotel experience: you say the event was organised at the hotel and that you were satisfied with the service, then identify the staff as something you liked. However, the response is very incomplete. It gives almost no details about the event, does not explain what specifically made the staff helpful, and offers no suggestions for improvement, so an important task point is missing. The required minimum of 150 words is also not met; the response contains 50 words. To develop the letter, describe the event’s purpose, attendance or arrangements, give a specific example of good service, and make one or two practical improvement suggestions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The ideas follow a basic, understandable order: you introduce the reason for writing and then mention a positive feature of the hotel. This gives the short response a simple overall direction. However, the letter has no clear paragraphing or closing, and the second point is introduced abruptly with “personally.” The opening sentence also combines the purpose, event timing and evaluation without clear separation, making the organisation feel unfinished. Use separate paragraphs for event details, what you appreciated, and suggested improvements. Linking phrases such as “In particular” and “One area that could be improved is…” would make the progression clearer and help the reader follow each part of the letter.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant words and phrases, including “event,” “hotel,” “quality of services,” and “staff,” so the general subject is clear. However, the vocabulary range is narrow and some choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “quality of services” where “quality of service” is more natural, and “helpfull” and “particulary,” which are misspelled. “Satisfied” communicates your positive view, but the response needs more precise language to describe the event and make constructive recommendations. Build a wider set of expressions for arrangements, hospitality and improvements—for example, “well-organised reception,” “attentive staff,” or “clearer signage”—and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response communicates its basic message through simple sentence structures, including “I am writing this letter to let you know…” and “they were very helpful.” However, the range is very limited, and the long opening sentence contains several problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation. The time expression “yesterday at 17:00 pm” is not formed correctly; use “yesterday at 5:00 p.m.” The event clause also needs a clearer grammatical connection, such as “the event I organised at your hotel yesterday.” Capitalisation and spacing around punctuation are inconsistent. Practise separating ideas into complete sentences and using accurate time expressions; then add a few controlled complex sentences to explain the event and your suggestions.
