Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir / Madam,
Hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this letter to give feedback on your services, which we recently experienced at your hotel.
My name is Meet and I am working as 'Project manager' in 'See Group'. Our company had hosted an event on 20th July at your 'Green Hotel'. As I was responsible for selecting veneau, I want to give My feedback about your services. Firstly, your customer service staff was very polit and kind, they take care about each detail's we asked for. Secondly, food services were on point as per our requirment. Lastly, hotel parking area was decent, but some of our clints were asked to park outside the hotel.
I want to suggest some improvement, which need to be improved for better service. The park area can be improved by providing clear sign bords, as it is far from hotel main gate. Moreover, you should include some vegetarein food, as our gusts were complaing about vegetarien items were unavailable.
Thank you for your service. Hope this feedback will help.
Your faithfully,
Meet

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the food and parking, providing more specific examples or a clearer explanation of the impact of these issues would have strengthened the response. The letter is well-structured and follows the required format, ensuring the reader clearly understands the purpose of your communication.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each serving a clear purpose. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Lastly', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader through your points. While the progression of ideas is clear, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in 'some of our clints were asked to park outside the hotel', which could be smoother. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the message is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'customer service', 'requirement', and 'improvement'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'veneau' (venue), 'polit' (polite), 'clints' (clients), 'sign bords' (signboards), 'vegetarein' (vegetarian), and 'gusts' (guests). These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the letter. While the meaning remains clear throughout, improving your spelling accuracy and expanding your range of collocations would help you achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding articles ('the hotel main gate'), pluralization ('detail's'), and verb tense/agreement ('clints were asked to park' instead of 'were told to park'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some errors in sentence construction. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage will be beneficial.
