Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear sir /madam
I am writing a letter to inform you that recently my company annual meeting organized at your hotel. This meeting was attended by 100 employees and held in the conference hall the hotel. On that day hotel provided the presentations facility ,lunch and an award ceremony which going very well due to this hotel staff and management.
however, there were lot of things which attracted me. Firstly, spacious and clean conference room. secondly, delicious food and refreshments, good projector with high quality of sound. Apart from that the location was convenient and had enough parking space .
On the other hand , although there have lot of facilities, they have need improvement in some areas which will enhance there production .Like wifi facility because its slow down during presentation and more vegetarian options rather than non vegetarian. therefore they should install sign board people can easy follow them and find there location .
Despite these minor issues we have wonderful experience and in future definitely visit if i have opportunity .
your faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects, and suggesting improvements. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the suggestions for improvement are brief and could be expanded with more specific context to better demonstrate the writer's ability to communicate complex needs. Despite this, all parts of the prompt are covered, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. The use of linking words such as 'Firstly', 'secondly', 'Apart from that', and 'On the other hand' helps guide the reader through the text. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more refined. Referencing is generally clear, though some minor issues with sentence structure occasionally affect the flow of ideas. Overall, the information is presented in a coherent manner.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their message clearly. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary like 'presentations facility', 'award ceremony', and 'refreshments'. However, there are several word-choice errors, such as 'production' instead of 'productivity' and 'there' instead of 'their'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the range and precision of the language. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more varied and precise collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the hotel', 'the presentations facility'), verb tenses ('which going very well'), and subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing capital letters and awkward phrasing. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the content, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
