Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to inform you that my event was smoothly happened at your hotel's auditorium and all your efforts was appreciated except few issues which might be fix for the next function.
To begin with, our event which was started around 7 in the evening with the small presentation by our clients which was successfull only by our staff efforts. Moreover, the audio system and the screen was also fully controlled by our professional staff. After, all discussion we had dinner over there which was quietly delecious and numerous variety of foods.
The thing which was I liked the most was coordinative and supportive behaviour of your staff. Initially, we had some changes in my program which I immediately informed to your supervisor and he smartly arranged all the arrangements according to our new plan.
However, I would like to mention some disappointments as well which I think you would definately taken into your consideration that we felt little bit suffocation over there so please careful for the next time for this problem.
I hope we will rebook your hall again for our next event.
Thank you
Rohit Nath

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting improvements. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the suggestion regarding 'suffocation' is vague and could have been explained more clearly as a ventilation issue. Despite this, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader is fully informed of your experience and requirements. To reach a higher band, ensure that your suggestions for improvement are specific and actionable, providing a clearer context for the manager to address the issue effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the event description to positive feedback and finally to areas for improvement. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'However' to link your ideas. While these are functional, the flow between some sentences is slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used, but the structure could be improved by ensuring each paragraph focuses strictly on one aspect of the prompt. Referencing is generally clear, though some minor errors in sentence construction occasionally disrupt the flow of information. Overall, the message is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'auditorium', 'presentation', and 'coordinative'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'smoothly happened' instead of 'went smoothly', 'quietly delicious' instead of 'quite delicious', and 'suffocation' when referring to poor ventilation. These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise vocabulary usage. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and the correct context for descriptive adjectives to enhance the naturalness of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('all your efforts was appreciated', 'audio system and the screen was') and verb tense consistency ('which was started', 'which I immediately informed'). Additionally, there are issues with word order and missing articles. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To progress, focus on proofreading for basic agreement rules and ensuring that your verb tenses remain consistent throughout the narrative.
