Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting improvements. However, the development of these ideas is limited. The details about the event are vague, and the suggestions for improvement are not clearly articulated, making it difficult for the reader to understand exactly what needs to be changed. The tone is inconsistent and does not always reflect the formal nature of a letter to a manager. To improve, you should provide more specific examples of the event and clearer, more actionable suggestions for the hotel staff.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is often weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the misuse of 'Although' and 'However' to start sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow the flow of your argument. While the overall structure is present, the lack of smooth transitions and the repetitive nature of some sentences hinder the coherence of the text. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, which limits your ability to express ideas precisely. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'many people to receive in event organisation' and 'different types of foods making specialy this company events members like that.' These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary related to event management and hospitality, and pay closer attention to collocations. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and verbs will help you convey your points more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('my company organise'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction ('in your hotel entrance very common'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas and capitalization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors requires the reader to work harder to interpret your message. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles to improve the accuracy of your writing.
