Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing regarding the event that we organized at your hotel recently. I would like to inform you that I am deeply satisfied with your service but I would also like to point out some factors which can be improved.
First of all, I would like to appreciate your service for the event. I would like to specify some service that were so satisfied. Firstly, the food, that was more than sufficient for the delegates. Secondly, the Air-Conditioning system was flawless. Which did not let us feel hot in the high temperature.
However, I would also like mention some parameters where I think you need to improve. Firstly, the hall, I found the hall was little congested where the delegated were facing issue while adjusting. Secondly, The parking lot could have improved by increasing the parking space. Since, the staff faced difficulty in parking their cars and got late to join the event.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects, and suggesting improvements. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, the 'details about the event' are very vague; you mention an event was organized but do not specify the type of event or the date. The suggestions for improvement are relevant but could be more detailed to fully satisfy the task requirements. To reach a higher band, ensure that you provide specific, concrete information that makes the letter feel authentic and fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'However' to transition between ideas. While the progression is logical, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack smooth flow, such as 'Which did not let us feel hot in the high temperature', which is a dependent clause incorrectly punctuated as a separate sentence. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring sentences are connected more fluidly would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some appropriate terms like 'delegates', 'flawless', and 'parameters'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'specify some service that were so satisfied' (should be 'mention some services that were satisfactory') and 'the parking lot could have improved' (should be 'could have been improved'). The range is sufficient for the task, but more precise vocabulary would help elevate the tone of the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an ability to use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('some service that were') and sentence fragments ('Which did not let us...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and capitalization errors (e.g., 'The parking lot'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of the text. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and sentence boundaries will significantly improve your score.
