Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, when mentioning the 'power cuts' as a positive, it is unclear if you meant the hotel handled them well or if you were listing them as a feature. Additionally, the suggestion for improvement regarding the reception area is a bit brief. To improve, ensure that your points are fully explained so the reader understands the context of your experience clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You have used some cohesive devices such as 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'Finally' to signal the progression of your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between staff arrangements and the list of services feels slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different requirements of the task, which helps the reader navigate your letter easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation. For instance, you used 'flabbergasted' to describe staff behavior, but this word means 'extremely surprised or shocked' and is inappropriate in this context. You also used 'disable' instead of 'disabled'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. Focusing on learning common collocations for business correspondence would help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'support to for make' and 'at the extraordinary level' (should be 'at an extraordinary level'). Additionally, 'this was looking bit noisy' is grammatically weak. While these errors are frequent, they do not impede communication, as the purpose of your letter remains clear. To reach a higher band, you should work on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions, as well as refining your sentence construction to avoid awkward phrasing.
