Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects, and suggesting improvements. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the event is vague, and the suggestions for improvement are slightly confusing, particularly the reference to 'getting another complaint from unknown'. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone is inconsistent, shifting from formal to slightly awkward phrasing. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details about the event and ensure your suggestions for improvement are clearly explained and logically connected to the context of the hotel service.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. For instance, the transition between the positive feedback and the suggestions for improvement feels a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'these details') is always clear will help improve the overall flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'organized', 'delicious', 'fantastic', and 'recommend'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'specious' (likely intended 'spacious') and 'getting another complaint from unknown'. These errors do not prevent the message from being understood, but they do indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and checking the spelling of descriptive adjectives to ensure they are used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'that event which organized' (passive voice error), 'It was an excellent experienced' (incorrect word form), and 'so can make' (missing subject). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tense usage, and ensuring that passive constructions are formed accurately. Proofreading your work for basic sentence structure errors will significantly enhance the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
