Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear sir/madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. The reason for writing this letter to inform you regarding the details of the event. this event was a big success for our company, the venue was full of individuals all the events and performances were held smoothly and professionally.
what I loved the most about the hotel was their ambience and the decoration which was provided complimentary by their management also their all staff members were well dressed , friendly and had good communication skills due to which they also were handling most of the guests of our company.
there were few areas which can be improved on our side and in the venue as well. firstly, talking about our side there were many in tears who were not at all punctual about their events and lacking good etiquette ins front of our senior board members. secondly, about the hotel was the hygiene of their washrooms which was really miserable.
thanks you for taking our your precious time considering my feed back.
Your's truly
Abhishek

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention the event was a success, you could have provided more specific details about the nature of the event to better satisfy the task requirements. The suggestions for improvement are clear, but the explanation regarding the 'in tears' (likely a typo for 'attendees') is slightly confusing. Overall, the response covers the requirements well enough to be considered a solid attempt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on one of the required points. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'firstly' and 'secondly' to structure your suggestions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes hindered by punctuation errors, such as missing full stops or incorrect capitalization (e.g., 'this event was a big success...'). The transition between ideas could be smoother if you used a wider variety of linking words and ensured that each sentence is clearly demarcated. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, which helps the reader follow your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'ambience', 'complimentary', and 'professional'. However, there are some noticeable errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'in tears' instead of 'attendees' and 'thanks you for taking our your precious time'. These errors suggest a need for more careful proofreading. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and ensure that your vocabulary is consistently accurate throughout the text. The current range is sufficient for the task but lacks the precision required for higher scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
Your writing shows a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar, such as run-on sentences and missing articles (e.g., 'all staff members' instead of 'all the staff members'). The misuse of capitalization at the start of sentences and the incorrect sign-off 'Your's truly' (should be 'Yours truly') are also problematic. These errors do not completely prevent understanding, but they do require the reader to work harder to interpret your meaning. Focusing on basic sentence boundaries and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
