Dear Sir / Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir,
I hope you are doing well, I am writing this mail regarding my experience regarding the food fest we had on last Sunday.
Personally i liked the decoration very much it showed a great combination of Indian cultures moreover, the food which was made by professionals from various places was very awesome i believe everybody liked the band which was recommended by me. I suggested this band because i have heard from many individuals that they have the best singers along with the latest sound equipment as well as they are more affordable that most of the other bands.
On the other hand, i think the sitting arrangement could be improved because i had seen that we were short in tables as compared to chairs because we only had 1 table per 7 chairs which made it very hard for the employees to sit comfortably and enjoy their food. we should improve sitting arrangement in next event may be rent more tables .
your faithfully,
Prince

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting improvements. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although it leans slightly informal in places. The ideas are relevant, but the development of the 'details about the event' is somewhat thin; while you mention a 'food fest', more specific details about the nature of the event or the date would have strengthened the response. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'moreover' and 'on the other hand' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). Improving the use of transition words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure would help the text flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'great combination of Indian cultures' and 'latest sound equipment' are effective. However, there is a reliance on basic descriptors such as 'very awesome' and 'very much', which limits the sophistication of your writing. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise adjectives and avoid repetitive intensifiers. Spelling is generally accurate, but the vocabulary choice remains somewhat limited in range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an ability to use complex sentences, such as 'I suggested this band because i have heard...', but there are frequent errors in punctuation and capitalization. Specifically, the lack of capital 'I' and the run-on sentences (e.g., 'I hope you are doing well, I am writing...') detract from the professional quality of the letter. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent. Focusing on sentence boundaries and basic grammatical conventions will significantly improve your score.
